The Briefing: President Obama appoints Howard University Alum to National Council on the Humanities

As a proud Howard Alum, I was excited about the announcement of the latest member of the National Council on Humanities. Dr. Dana A. Williams was selected by President Barack Obama to serve on this illustrious Council. The current chair of Howard University's English Department since 2009, Dr. Williams received her undergraduate degree from Grambling University and her master's and Ph.D from Howard University. 

Now what is the National Council on Humanities, this Council is primarily responsible promoting the humanities and American history by funding cultural institutions, universities, public media stations and scholars.
