Hello, my name is Kenya Jordana James.

Food, Selfies and Stuff is a lifestyle website about living simply, eating well and traveling often.

In 2011, Kenya James graduated with honors from Howard University in Washington, D.C., where she studied political science with a focus on International Affairs and English. At twelve years old, Kenya founded Blackgirl Magazine, a publication dedicated to offering African American girls an outlet to express themselves. While in college, she studied abroad in Paris at the Sorbonne, focusing on multiculturalism and the bi-lateral relationship between France and the United States. Throughout her college career, Kenya served in student government and in several campus organizations.

She has held internships with the U.S. Senate Foreign Relations Committee, United Nations Environment Programme (Regional Office of North America) NPR, the office U.S. Congressman John Conyers and Global Policy Solutions. Highly passionate about intersection of cultural relations within the realm of foreign policy, Kenya’s thesis examined the role of public diplomacy in the War on Terrorism. Most recently, Kenya served as press assistant to Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, Senator Charles Schumer and the Democratic Policy and Communications Center. 

In 2013, Kenya Jordana James was selected as a Charles B. Rangel International Affairs Graduate Fellow. In May, Kenya received her Masters in International Affairs at the New School for Public Engagement's Milano School of International Affairs, Management and Urban Policy. She currently lives in Washington, D.C. and a member of United States Foreign Service.
