Hi.

Welcome to my blog. I document my adventures in life through my thoughts on travel, style, food and even occasionally work.

Movements: Activities worthy of Summer

Movements: Activities worthy of Summer

Every summer, my mother either enrolled me a summer program or a summer program. In college, the idea stuck with me. I enrolled in summer programs or internships. Two opportunities that have upcoming deadlines includes the Black Girls Lead and the Howard University School of Law Pre-Law Summer Program

Black Girls Lead

BLACK GIRLS LEAD (BGL) is an international leadership conference for young women of color. The mission of the program is to offer girls tools and resources to become dynamic leaders, innovators, and public servants of the future.

BLACK GIRLS LEAD is a four-day leadership conference for girls Conference applications are due Friday May 20, 2016 by 11:59PM. Only completed applications will be reviewed: Short answer questions should be thoughtful and comprehensive (approximately three sentences long), essays should be clear and concise (approximately 500 words), and all other assets must be e-mailed or submitted into the form by the aforementioned deadline.

Howard University School of Law Pre-Law Summer Program

From May 31st, 2016 – June 25th, 2016, Howard University School of Law will host approximately 30 undergraduate Pre-Law Scholars on our campus for a pipeline program designed to help students, primarily African-American students from other HBCUs, gain admission into law school and succeed once there.

Pre-Law Scholars will live in the dorms on Howard University’s main campus. Scholars will travel to the School of Law’s campus Monday through Thursday of each week to take classes such as Legal Writing, Law and Philosophy, Law and Social Justice, and Law and Entrepreneurship, taught by Howard University faculty and LSAT prep with Kaplan. On Fridays, Scholars will meet with judges and other legal practitioners to learn more about the practice of law. Scholars in both PLSEP and its Pre-Health Sciences sister program will spend Saturdays together, exploring Washington, DC’s cultural institutions.

There is no cost to students who participate in the program and Pre-Law Scholars will receive a $1200 stipend. Please note that students will have to cover travel expenses to and from Washington, DC on their own. Once in DC, transportation costs will be covered as well as costs for materials, books, breakfast and lunch.

If you are interested in taking advantage of this phenomenal opportunity, please fill out the application below.

The deadline to apply is April 30th.
