The Reel: Spike Lee's Chi-Raq

When you think of Chicago, what comes to mind? The Windy City, President Obama, deep dish pizza, the Bulls? Well... there is another side of Chicago that you should become acquainted with! Due to an alarming murder rate, Chicago has been referred by some Chiraq - Chicago Iraq. 

In his latest project, Spike Lee delves into Chicago's gang related violence. A partnership between 40 Acres and a Mule Filmworks and Amazon, Spike Lee's Chiraq is quiet star studded....with Samuel L. Jackson, Angela Bassett, Dave Chappelle, John Cusack, Jennifer Hudson and Nick Cannon. Loosely based on Lysistrata, the ancient Greek comedy, Chiraq tells the story of  women who attempt to stop the violence by withholding sex from their husbands and boyfriends. Chiraq will hit theaters on Dec.4, followed by a release on Amazon Instant Video.
