Roots: Braiding on Our Terms
There is a lot of discussion about braids due to their resurgence in popular culture. But Braids have always been an integral part of African American Culture. Academy Award winning actress, Lupita Nyong'o enjoyed braiding the hair of friends and discussed her experiences with Vogue Magazine. Similarly, Shani Crowe, an interdisciplinary artist and Howard Alumni channeled braiding in her new exhibition "Braids".
